BS7835 LSZH Medium Voltage Power Cables Class 2 Stranded Copper Conductor
Armoured cables with thermosetting insulation - 3.8/6.6kV to
19/33kV - with low emission of smoke and corrosive gases when
affected by fire. Manufactured in accordance with British Standard
BS7835
British Standard BS7835 specifies requirements for single-core and
three-core armoured cables with thermosetting insulation -
3.8/6.6kV up to 19/33kV. They are designed to produce low levels of
smoke and corrosive gases on exposure to fire compared to the
cables specified in British Standard BS6622.
BS7835 cable construction
This Standard specifies the following cable construction:
Conductor | Class 2 stranded copper |
Insulation | Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) Type GP8 or cross-linked Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) Type GP7 |
Insulation screen | Semi-conductive layer of XLPE |
Screen | Metallic screening layer of copper wire or copper tape |
Bedding | Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) compound |
Armour | Metallic armour of aluminium or aluminium alloy for single-core cables and galvanised steel wire for three-core cables |
Outersheath | Thermoplastic LSZH oversheath |
BS7835 cable can be commonly referred in international markets as MV armoured XLPE/LSZH/SWA/LSZH.
BS7835 Cable selection
We supply a comprehensive range of Medium Voltage (MV) cables,
including Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) thermoplastic oversheathed
cables manufactured in accordance with British Standard BS 7835.
These cables are designed to have improved fire performance when
installed in air. They are also suitable for direct burial
installation in free draining soil. It is recommended for the user
to seek advice from the supplier for applications requiring
installation in any other environment. In particular, these cables
are not suitable for use as self-supporting aerial cables, as
submarine cable or in water-logged conditions, and in environments
where there is a risk of mechanical damage or exposure to excessive
heat.
Please contact our technical engineers for technical support with
the selection of BS 7835 cables and associated cable accessories.
